pharmaceutical companies help patients
Many patients can't afford medications due to financial restrictions. What do these patients do if they can't afford what their physicians prescribe?
After speaking with many nurses, working in clinics/doctor's offices, there was a general concensus that many patients do not tell their doctors (of financial limits) due to feeling embarrassed. Often these patients will take the prescriptions (given to them by their doctors) and not have them filled.
There are solutions for those who can't afford medications.
Many of the pharmaceutical companies offer programs to help patients with financial limits. There are some pharmaceutical companies who do not advertise that they have these programs. Interesting, isn't it? I wonder why? Could there be political involvement on some level? Certainly, one would say.
Irregardless, these programs are out there.
1. Ask your doctor which pharmaceutical company makes the medication he wants you to take. If he does not know check with your pharmacist, or go online and search for the medication. This will tell you who the manufacturer is..
2. Either download the application from the website, or call the phone number listed and an application can be sent to you.
3. Fill out the application and have your physician sign it and attach the prescription.
The application process takes about 2 to 6 weeks to get your first three month supply. However, after the initial prescription is filled, you can reapply every three months, and the process is not as long.
This does help and it is unfortunate that more drug companies do not advertise these programs. One would ask, 'why don't they advertise'............Good question.........WHY?
