WOW !! What A Great Nurse !! WOW
We had never met. She was new in her position. Working in a speciality department of a large medical group. She was the new nursing supervisor. Although, she did not perform direct nursing care, she managed many many nurses, who did.
We sent her a letter to commend one of her nurses. And, through that learned what a wonderful nurse, kind, concerned and , my oh my, so qualified.
One day I needed to reach the doctor and I asked for her. Her kindness and concern was so very evident by her manner and tone of her voice. WOW !! Was this a new breed of nurse that I had not seen in awhile. I think it was.
I discussed the situation (medical problem) with her and her first step was to educate. Her compassion was there, for she knew the importance of questions we had, plus she was educated in her speciality area that she knew when to contact the doctor or not.
She was the doctor's right hand. How lucky the doctor was to have her in his office. Did he realize that? I am sure he did.
Still having never met her, she was there for us. Giving support through a difficult time. And, taking the time to do so. WOW still impressed.
Going into the hospital, even for a minor procedure is traumatic. Still having not met her, she knew our family was stressed and worried. We finally met ! She took the time to be with us while we were waiting for our loved one to come out of surgery. Her support was overwhelming. The warmth and sincerity in her knowing where we, as a family, where coming from, was indeed touching.
It had been a long time since I had seen a nurse of this quality in a physician's office.
I believe patients that have no medical or healthcare background are not well versed in what is really good quality care and what is not. I am seasoned in knowing what is good care and appreciate a good nurse when I see one. This was a good nurse. I wish everyone could have such a wonderful experience as we did, as a family, as well as individually.
